Nationwide protests are scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 8, throughout urban centers in Indonesia over the 'Omnibus' bill. The demonstrations have been called for by both trade unions and students and are being held in protest over the Omnibus bill, which seeks to revise the labor law. One of the demonstrations is scheduled to be held outside Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, while similar protests are expected in Surabaya (East Java province), and Yogyakarta (Special Region of Yogyakarta), as well as in other urban centers nationwide. Thousands are expected to attend the protests nationwide.
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are possible in the vicinity of all demonstrations.
