The Indian National Congress (INC) party has called for protests to occur across the country on Saturday, October 10, to oppose recently passed agricultural legislation. Protests may occur in district and state capitals across India and announced protests sites include Morabadi Ground in Ranchi (Jharkhand state) and Jaipur (Rajasthan state). The INC will also hold a series of state-level meetings with farmers across the country and associated rallies may also occur. Previous protests have included the blocking of roads.
A heightened security presence is also likely in the vicinity of the demonstrations, and clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out.
Those in India are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
