Roadside IED blast kills 13 in Sar-e-Pul on October 10; further attacks targeting security forces likely over the near term

A roadside improvised explosive device (IED) targeted an Afghan National Army (ANA) convoy in Sar-e-Pul on Saturday, October 10, killing ten security force personnel and three civilians. Three other people were wounded in the blast. Responsibility for the attack was not immediately claimed, and security officials are yet to comment on the incident.

Further attacks targeting security forces are to be anticipated over the near term.
