Supporters of the far-right Golden Dawn party are scheduled to protest in Athens on Monday, October 12. Participants of the demonstration are set to gather at approximately 10:00 (local time) at the Court of Appeals, where the trial of several members of the Golden Dawn party is expected to resume. On October 7, the members were found guilty of being part of a criminal organization, prompting large-scale protests and celebratory gatherings in the capital as well as Thessaloniki, during which tear gas was reportedly deployed by police. Associated gatherings are likely in the vicininty of the court.
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are possible in the vicinity of the demonstration.
Those in Athens are advised to monitor the situation, avoid associated demonstrations, and heed instructions issued by local authorities.
