Lagos authorities announced on Monday, October 12, that at least seven people have been killed and dozens injured after a multi-story building collapsed in the Obalende area of Lagos Island. The collapse occurred on Sunday, October 11, and the area remains cordoned off as representatives with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) continue their search for survivors. The building was reportedly under construction and investigations have begun to determine why it collapsed.  

Access to roads in the vicinity of the building has been disrupted as rescue operations continue.
