A protest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17, over the partial reopening of Varosha (Famagusta district) by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Previous related protests on October 11, led to two arrests after protesters breached the checkpoint.

A heightened security presence and localized travel disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of the event.

Those in Famagusta are advised to monitor developments, avoid demonstrations, protests, and political gatherings as a precaution, and heed any directives issued by local authorities.
