Unidentified gunmen attacked a convoy of vehicles near Ormara (Balochistan province) on Thursday, October 15, killing at least 14 people. According to initial reports, the convoy was traveling from Gwadar to Karachi when it came under fire. Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), an alliance of armed ethnic Baloch separatist groups who demand independence from Pakistan, subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack. A heightened security presence and localized disruptions to transportation and business are to be expected around the incident site over the coming hours.
Those in Balochistan are advised to remain vigilant at all times and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
