Anti-government protesters have gathered in the Port-au-Prince suburb of Delmas (Ouest department) on Saturday, October 17. The demonstrators are calling for Haiti President Jovenel Moïse to be removed from power. Several hundred participants have reportedly blocked the road and set fire to tires and they plan to march to Pétion-Ville and then on to downtown Port-au-Prince. There are unconfirmed reports that shots have been fired and police are using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.

A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstration in the coming hours. Clashes between protesters and security forces are possible amid the unrest.
