The India National Congress (INC) political party has called for a shutdown strike in Mahbubnagar (Telangana State) on Wednesday, October 21. The strike is being held to denounce the failure of the state government to maintain the Kalwakurthy pump house, which was destroyed due to flooding in the area. It is currently unclear which sectors will be affected by the strike, although some businesses are expected to close and disruption to transport services should be anticipated.
Associated protests may also occur in surrounding districts and cities. The largest rally is expected to take place in the district headquarters, Mahbubnagar.
A heightened security presence and associated disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any protest sites.
Those in Mahbubnagar are advised to monitor developments, avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
