Anti-government protests are scheduled to take place in Baghdad on Sunday, October 25. The current locations and timings of the demonstrations are yet to be announced, however, previous demonstrations have taken place at Tahrir Square and the nearby bridges leading to the green zone. Associated protests are likely in the southern governorates with protesters expected to gather at public squares and government buildings.
A heightened security presence and associated transport and business disruptions are to be expected near protest sites. Clashes between protesters and the security forces cannot be ruled out.
Those in Baghdad are advised to monitor the situation, adjust travel itineraries and avoid unnecessary overland movement in the immediate term, avoid the vicinity of any demonstrations, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
