Suspected Taliban militants kidnapped seven employees of a private construction firm in Nahr-e-Shahi district (Balkh province) on Friday, October 23. Reports indicate that the employees were on duty in the Langar Khan area of the district when they were kidnapped. Several items of machinery and a vehicle belonging to the firm were also stolen amid the kidnapping. The Taliban militant group did not immediately comment on the incident.

Security operations are expected in the area following the incident.
