Authorities in the city of Philadelphia have announced a 21:00 to 06:00 (local time) curfew for Wednesday, October 28, following two days of protests over the police killing of a black man. The national guard has been deployed, along with police reinforcements, after 30 police officers were injured during protests on Monday. Several instances of looting were reported throughout the city on Tuesday, as peaceful protests turned more violent late in the evening. Police have used pepper spray and batons in an effort to disperse the crowds and at least 172 people have been arrested.
A heightened police presence and transportation disruptions are expected in the city, and clashes between protesters and police are likely if protesters do not abide by the curfew.
Those in Philadelphia are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate localized disruptions, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
