Protesters clashed with police on Thursday, October 29, in the town of Guernica in greater Buenos Aires over the dispute of contested land in the area. According to local reports, at least 30 people were arrested and multiple police officers were injured in the unrest which began when a local landowner sought a court injunction to evict land squatters from his property. Once the protesters were cleared, police moved in and cleared the makeshift housing which was previously occupied by an estimated 600 people.
A heightened security presence and localized travel disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of any protest.
Those in the greater Buenos Aires area are advised to monitor developments, avoid large gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
