Event

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck in the Icarian Sea, 65 km (40 miles) southwest of Izmir on Friday, October 30. The quake struck at 14:51 (local time) at a depth of 10 km (6 miles). There have been preliminary reports of buildings damaged in Izmir.

Aftershocks are likely in the affected area over the coming hours and days.

Those in the affected areas are advised to monitor the situation and prepare for potential aftershocks.
