Italy News Alert

Workers from closed plant occupy Naples Central and Gianturco railway stations on November 3; disruptions to rail services likely

TIMEFRAME expected from 11/3/2020, 12:00 AM until 11/5/2020, 11:59 PM (Europe/Rome). COUNTRY/REGION Naples

Workers from a manufacturing plant in Naples which closed at the end of last month occupied Naples Central and Gianturco railway stations on Tuesday, November 3. The workers are protesting at a lack of support by the government following the closure in the midst of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Rail services are likely to be disrupted in the area due to the demonstrations and roads nearby the affected stations may also be affected. A heightened security presence is expected at the protest sites and clashes between demonstrators and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Those in Naples are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate disruptions to transport, and adhere to all directives issued by local authorities.
