Youth activists from the Common Front for Congo (FCC) group marched on Wednesday, November 4, in Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga province) to denounce violations of the constitution and calling for stability in the country. Participants gathered peacefully on Arthur Forrest Square, then marched through the city on Avenue Kasa-Vubu, through Colonel Ilunga, then Avenue Kabalo, before returning to Arthur Forrest Square. Police were deployed; however, reports suggest the protest remained peaceful in nature.
Further associated demonstrations are possible in the area in the near term. A heightened security presence and localized disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of all rallies.
Those in Lubumbashi are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings, and heed any instructions issued by local authorities.
