Anti-lockdown demonstration planned in Nowogrodzka area, Warsaw, on November 6; disruption likely

TIMEFRAME expected from 11/6/2020, 12:00 AM until 11/6/2020, 11:59 PM (Europe/Warsaw). COUNTRY/REGION Warsaw

An anti-lockdown demonstration is scheduled to take place in the Nowogrodzka area of Warsaw on Friday, November 6. The demonstration is being held to oppose a potential lockdown in the city which is being considered in order to curb the further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The demonstration has been organized by the far-right Confederation political group. Participants of the demonstration are set to gather outside the Law and Justice party headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street at approximately 19:00 (local time).

Clashes between security forces and protests cannot be ruled out following the current ban on gatherings of more than five people due to COVID-19.

A heightened security presence and associated disruptions to transportation are likely in the vicinity of the gathering in the near term.

Those in Warsaw are advised to anticipate disruptions, minimize time spent in the vicinity of the gathering, and heed all instructions issued by local authorities.
