Demonstration scheduled in Accra for November 8; disruption likely

A demonstration is scheduled to take place in Accra on Sunday, November 8. The demonstration has been organized by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) party and is being held to support presidential candidate John Mahama ahead of the December 7 general election. Participants of the demonstration are set to gather at the Alajo T-junction at approximately 05:30 (local time)

Previous related demonstrations by the NDC and ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP) on October 25 resulted in clashes between participants.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the demonstration sites.
