Cross-sorder clashes reported in the Kupwara district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on November 8; further clashes possible in the near term

Event

Four soldiers were reportedly killed along with three militants in cross border clashes in the Kupwara district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Sunday, November 8. The clashes reportedly started after an army patrol spotted the suspected militants trying to infiltrate the Line of Control in the Machil sector of Kupwara district in the early morning hours, sparking a prolonged firefight.

Further security incidents are possible on both sides of the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days and weeks.

Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
