Security forces killed at least four unidentified militants during clashes in the Nagrota area of Jammu district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Thursday, November 19. The attackers had reportedly opened fire on the Ban Toll Plaza on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, prompting security forces to retaliate. The highway has been closed due to the fighting with traffic being halted in the Nagrota and Tilting area. Additional security forces have been deployed to the area.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the incident, with associated disruptions to business and transportation. Further militant attacks are likely in Jammu and Kashmir over the near to medium term.

Those in Jammu and Kashmir territory are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.

Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
