South African Weather Service issues red warnings for wildfires in western areas on November 20-21; remain vigilant and follow authority directives

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a level 10 red warning (the highest warning level) for wildfire conditions across parts of Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces on Friday, November 20, through to Saturday, November 21. Warnings are also in place in Vryburg and surrounds in North West province and in Hoopstad and surrounds in Free State province. The warnings from the SAWS indicates that the likelihood of fires is high and the potential impact severe.
Wildfires could break out across the affected reasons in the coming days and can spread rapidly. An emergency response presence and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in any affected areas.
