On Saturday, November 28, police have launched a search operation to locate suspected militants believed to have killed at least four people in a remote village near Sigi region (Central Sulawesi province) on Sulawesi island on Friday, November 27. Reports indicate that ten militants linked to a terrorist group killed four villagers in an attack and then burnt down the victims' homes and a Salvation Army post. The alleged attackers' motivation for the killing remains unclear, though reports suggest it may have been an attack against the Christian minority, as all the victims were Christian.

A heightened security presence is expected in the area over the near term. Clashes between militants and security forces are possible.
