Activists affiliated with The Line Canada movement plan to protest in Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto, from 1200 Jan. 16 to demand that authorities lift restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The event is part of a series of protests that the group has been staging at the same time and location every Saturday. Several hundred people will likely participate in the demonstration.

Police will probably deploy to monitor the action as a precaution and facilitate the flow of traffic. Although most events have remained largely peaceful, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out. Localized traffic disruptions are likely.
