However, a spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police denied Wine had been arrested. Demonstrations are likely leading up to the election on Thursday, June 29.
The 2016 election of Apollo Kantinti as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kyadondo East district in Kampala was nullified by the High Court due to electoral irregularities. Campaigning for the seat’s by-election began on June 2.
