Operations at Bishop International Airport (FNT) in Flint, Michigan resumed on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 21. The airport was evacuated after a man stabbed a police officer on the public side (before going through security) of the airport's main terminal earlier in the day; the assailant was subsequently detained and is currently being questioned. The police officer was reportedly in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon (local time). No others were reported injured in the attack. According to officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), they are investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism.


According to police officials, the suspect is from Quebec and has a Canadian passport. United States and Canadian officials are conducting a joint investigation into the attacker. Initial reports indicate that the stabbing was an isolated incident and that there is no further specific, credible threat to the area.
