The incident now appears to be under control but the area around the Parliament remains on lockdown as of 13:00 (local time).

Furthermore, four assailants stormed the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran on Wednesday morning. Several people are believed to have been injured and one killed after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives and gunmen opened fire. One of the assailants has been shot dead and one other arrested. The situation seemed to have been brought under control when another attacker detonated a second suicide vest inside the Mausoleum.

The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Individuals in Tehran are advised to avoid both areas, monitor the situation, and obey any instructions issued by the local authorities. Expect traffic disruption in affected areas.
