On Tuesday, June 6, 48 people were injured after two metro trains collided in the underground Tarasht station in western Tehran. According to reports, a train that had stopped at the station due to technical problems was hit by another train. Emergency medical services were deployed and 40 of the injured people were taken to the hospital. Expect transportation delays in the city due to the accident.
Transporting hundreds of thousands of passengers each day, the Tehran metro system has five lines and around 200 km (124 mi) of track.
