Authorities in the UAE have issued a warning over an increase in pickpocketing throughout the country, largely taking place near Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).   Suspects allegedly dupe their victims by claiming they have a flat tyre or oil leak, subsequently robbing the victim of the money just obtained from an ATM.

Police have urged the public to exercise vigilance, particularly during Ramadan.

Police across the UAE have launched a number of awareness campaigns warning against modern and old-fashioned ATM scams, after UAE residents reported a significant increase in theft cases.

Individuals in the UAE are advised to take care to monitor their possessions at all times.
