TIMEFRAME expected from 6/1/2017, 12:00 AM until 6/1/2017, 11:59 PM (Europe/Rome). COUNTRY/REGION Rome

Several media sources have reported a fire at a junkyard filled with old vehicles on Via Mattia Battistini in the early evening on Thursday, June 1. Contrary to some initial reports, officials have stated that no explosion occurred. Due to the thick black (potentially toxic) smoke produced by the fire, the area has been cordoned off and three buildings nearby have been evacuated. Police have reportedly closed Via Mattia Battistini, Via dei Monti di Primavalle, and Via Lucio II. Anticipate severe transportation delays as road closures impact public and private transportation.

Individuals in Rome are advised to avoid the area of the fire, be prepared for congestion in the vicinity and on public transportation, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
