Employees of the national airline Aerolíneas Argentinas launched a wildcat strike at 06:00 (local time) on Friday, October 13, at Buenos Aires’s Ezeiza (EZE) and Jorge Newbery (AEP) international airports. The strike has resulted in flight delays and cancelations at both airports; flights operated by sister airline Austral have also been affected. The airline’s president has warned that flight disruptions could continue into the weekend (October 14-15).
A number of unions are participating in the strike to demand a 26 percent salary rise amid high rates of inflation.
Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport.
