Various events will be held in the coming days to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Fidel Castro. The events are being held over a ten-day period that began on November 25, notably in the capital Havana and the city of Santiago. On December 3, a cultural event will be held in Havana’s central Plaza de la Revolución. The following morning, a pilgrimage march will depart from the plaza at 07:00 (local time) towards the city of Santiago.

Small anti-Castro protests are possible. Any protest will likely be immediately broken up by police, who could use force.

Individuals are advised to strictly avoid all protests.
