Clashes over control of gold deposit in Siguiri (northeast) on December 2; four injured

On Saturday, December 2, violent clashes erupted in the mining area of Siguiri (northeast) between villagers from Korè-Korè and others from Miyada over control of a gold deposit. At least four people were wounded and several others arrested by security forces who were quickly deployed in the area.

A meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 7, to attempt to resolve the dispute. In the meantime, Siguiri remains under the control of security forces.


According to local sources, the mining zone is a long-disputed area, with various camps claiming control over it.


Individuals in the area are advised to monitor the situation and avoid the area of the clashes.
