North Korea: Border bridge to China closed Dec. 11-20

North Korea News Alert

Chinese officials close border bridge linking Sinuiju to Chinese city of Dandong December 11-20

TIMEFRAME expected from 12/10/2017, 11:30 PM until 12/20/2017, 11:29 PM (Asia/Pyongyang). COUNTRY/REGION Sinuiju

On Monday, December 11, Chinese authorities temporarily closed a border bridge connecting the Chinese city of Dandong to the North Korean city of Sinuiju. The border will remain closed for at least ten days, until December 20.

Chinese authorities justified the closure saying that North Korea is conducting maintenance on the bridge; however Beijing may be using the closure as a warning to North Korea, whose nuclear development program keeps accelerating.

Individuals present in North Korea are advised to take this closure into account if traveling to China by road.
