A large fire was reported at Nottingham railway station on the morning of Friday, January 12. The fire, allegedly an act of arson, began around 06:30 (local time) and destroyed several areas of the station. As of 19:00, the fire has been brought under control by local fire brigades. No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.

Train service at Nottingham has been disrupted and is unlikely to be restored until Saturday, January 13, at the earliest. Significant crowding and delays should be expected once service resumes.


Nottingham station is the principal railway station serving the Greater Nottingham metropolitan area, serving almost 7.5 million passengers each year.
