The Trade Union Federation of Health Professionals of the Argentine Republic (FESPROSA) is planning to hold a 24-hour strike on Tuesday, January 23. During the strike, hospitals may offer only critical care and longer-than-normal waiting times are possible in all medical facilities; non-emergency cases may be turned away and scheduled doctor's appointments may be canceled.
A related demonstration is expected to take place on Tuesday in front of the Hospital Posadas in Buenos Aires. Additional protests could be held in other cities throughout Argentina.
FESPROSA leaders are organizing the strike to protest the termination of labor contracts in Buenos Aires hospitals.
Individuals in Argentina are advised to confirm doctor's appointments and avoid protests as a precaution.
