Due to recent legislation that increased regulation on the ride-sharing sector, Uber announced on Thursday, April 5, that it would withdraw its UberX ride-sharing service from the Greek market beginning on Tuesday, April 10, until further notice. The company will continue to provide UberTAXI service, which contracts with local taxi companies rather than independent licensed drivers.
Uber began operating in Greece in 2015 and has 450,000 registered users.
Individuals in Greece are advised to use alternative means of transportation.
