A strike by Public Power Corporation (PPC) workers was launched on Monday, April 23; it is set last for 48 hours, i.e. through Tuesday, April 24. Power outages are possible throughout the country during the strike.
The workers at PPC, Greece's main electric power company, are protesting against the sale of two coal-powered plants.
Individuals in Greece are advised to keep battery-powered devices (e.g. cellphones and laptops) fully charged when possible and to be cautious when driving or crossing streets if traffic signals are not functioning.
