A sandstorm has engulfed Riyadh and surrounding areas on Monday, April 23, prompting the Saudi General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection to issue a warning regarding reducing visibility. The towns and cities of Al-Kharj, Dawadmi, Al-Ghat, Al-Aflaj, and adjacent areas have also been included in the warning. Authorities have cautioned drivers to exercise increased caution on roads. Lingering transportation disruptions are possible in Riyadh and in the abovementioned areas in the coming hours. Although significant flight disruptions have not been reported, delays and cancelations remain possible at area airports, including at King Khalid International Airport (RUH).
