A protest planned by Bulgarian truck drivers will take place in the capital Sofia from Wednesday, May 16, until 17:00 (local time) on Thursday, May 17. As of Wednesday morning, trucks have been parked in protest on the Sofia-Tsarigradsko highway, disrupting traffic notably between Sofia International Airport (SOF) and the National Palace of Culture.
Truck drivers are protesting a European Union reform which would lead to significant work condition changes and could lead to the layoffs of 120,000 drivers.
Individuals in Sofia are advised to monitor the situation and to prepare for traffic disruptions in the capital and in the vicinity of SOF.
