Various transportation strikes are set to take place on Saturday, May 26. Ground staff at Milan’s Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN) international airports will be on strike all day, as will cabin crews at Blue Panorama Airlines. Staff at Ancona-Marche Airport (AOI) will strike from 10:00 until 18:00 (local time).
Furthermore, rail-sector employees at FSI (a group that oversees the country’s rail network), Trenord (the company that operates regional passenger trains in the Lombardy region), and NTV (a privately-run high-speed train operator) will be on strike nationwide from 22:00 on May 26 until 06:00 on Sunday, May 27.
Transportation-related strikes are common in Italy. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all strikes.
Travelers in Italy are advised to confirm their travel itineraries and to allow for extra time to reach their destinations.
