The annual St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2018) will be held from Thursday, May 24, through Saturday, May 26. Official delegations from over 100 countries and around 15,000 people are expected to participate in the conference. Events will be held at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in the southern part of the city. Increased security measures (such as road closures) and localized traffic disruptions are expected in the area. Disruptions will likely be particularly high on Friday, May 25, when Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to give a speech at the forum.
SPIEF is held every year to allow members of the international business community to meet and discuss key economic issues facing Russia, the world, and other emerging markets.
Individuals in St. Petersburg between May 24-26 are advised to anticipate heightened security measures and transportation delays around the forum.
