On Friday, June 8, a part of the Siddartha highway was obstructed at the Butwal-Palpa section due to a landslide near Madanpokhara. According to the reports, road travel in Arghakhanci, Gulmi, Palpa, Pokhara, and Syangja districts has been blocked. It is unclear when the highway will be cleared.

Heavy monsoon rains have triggered a number of landslides in the area; one casualty was reported in the first week of June.


Siddharta highway is one of the main highways in Nepal, connecting the south and the north of the country.

Flooding and landslides are common in the Himalayan region of Nepal during the monsoon season, which typically spans from June until August.


Individuals present in affected regions are advised to follow all instructions as issued by local authorities and to use alternative routes.
