The French meteorological authorities (Météo France) have issued yellow alerts (the third-highest on a four-point scale) for northern French Guiana, including the entire coastline (e.g. the cities of Kourou and Cayenne), due to a tropical wave located over the Caribbean. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the area on Friday, June 8, which could potentially trigger flooding and/or mudslides. Related transportation disruptions and power outages are possible.
