Flooding continues in the Manila region and elsewhere as of Tuesday, August 14. At least six people have died in recent days and tens of thousands of people have been evacuated; over 1 million people have been impacted in total. Four of the deaths occurred in the capital region and two in the northern provinces of Zambales and Benguet. Nationwide, 400,000 people have been displaced by monsoon rain and recent storms, including Typhoon Yagi which departed the Philippines on August 11.

The Philippines archipelago is among the planet's most disaster-prone countries and is hit by an average of 20 typhoons annually.

Individuals present in the Philippines, especially near Manila, are advised to keep abreast of the situation, minimize nonessential outdoor activities, anticipate temporary impacts on transportation, communications, and power supply, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities. In the event of flooding, remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
