In a statement released on social media, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called for supporters to rally in Yerevan on Friday, August 17, to mark his 100th day in office. Hundreds of people are expected to participate in the rally, which begins at Republic Square starting at 18:30 (local time). Localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around the event.
Pashinyan was elected as the next prime minister by parliament on May 8 following three weeks of anti-government protests. He was the only candidate, but had previously failed to win his bid to become the country's next prime minister on May 1, with parliament voting against him 55 to 45.
Individuals in Yerevan are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution and allow additional time to travel.
