South Africa's public enterprise minister announced on Wednesday, August 15, that state-run airline South African Express (SA Express) will resume flight operations beginning on Thursday, August 23. The announcement comes amid news that a merger between SA Express and South African Airways (South Africa's flag carrier airline) is currently underway.
On June 22, the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) reinstated SA Express' operating license after it was suspended in May due to serious safety concerns. During normal periods the airline operates domestic flights within South Africa as well as regional flights to Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the DRC.
Travelers are advised to contact the airline for further information.
