Singapore: “Citizens on Patrol” volunteers in train stations

Singapore Alerte de sécurité

Citizens on Patrol (Cop) volunteers may be allowed to patrol train stations to assist security forces under the supervision of police

TIMEFRAME expected from 23/8/2018, 12h00 until 23/8/2018, 11h59 (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Singapore

Singapore Police Force are considering allowing civilian volunteers from the Citizens on Patrol (Cop) program to patrol train stations (MRT stations) and provide some assistance to police. Before their deployment, volunteers would be given additional training by police and would initially be accompanied by officers during their patrols.

This new security initiative comes following a recent rise in crime rates on public transportation. Despite this, travel via public transit in Singapore can still be considered safe.

Individuals are advised to report any suspicious objects or behavior and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
