Thailand Alerte de sécurité

Eight injured in an explosion in Din Daeng district caused by a gas leak

TIMEFRAME expected from 3/9/2018, 12h00 until 3/9/2018, 11h59 (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Bangkok

On the morning of September 3, eight people were wounded in Din Daeng district in an explosion caused by a gas leak. The blast occurred around 02:00 in a laundry shop, at the mouth of Soi Intamara 36. The explosion caused damages to the laundry, a car and a motorcycle parked nearby. Authorities have so far excluded any links to terrorism. The police believes that the explosion took place due to a leak from a cooking gas cylinder.

In August 2016, several improvised explosive devices' (IEDs) and incendiary devices' explosions and incidents occurred in tourist regions (Hua Hin, Trang, Krabi, Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Patong and Loma in Phuket, Surat Thani, and Khao Lak in Phang Nga). In 2015 a bomb targeted the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, resulting in 20 deaths, including one visiting foreign national.

Individuals present in Bangkok are advised to avoid nonessential visits to Din Daeng district, as road restrictions may be temporarily in place. Adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
