The high-speed rail line between Frankfurt and Cologne will reopen with some disruptions on Saturday, October 20. Deutsche Bahn, the national rail operator, announced that additional journey times should still be expected between Cologne and Frankfurt/Main, as well as on trains serving Limburg/South, Montabaur, and Siegburg/Bonn, due to ongoing repair work. Trains traveling from Frankfurt to Belgium and the Netherlands will also be disrupted.
The high-speed line between Frankfurt and Cologne was closed on October 12 after a technical fault caused a fire to erupt on an Intercity-Express (ICE) train.
Potentially affected travelers are advised to confirm the status of their trains prior to departure for the train station and prepare for longer travel times.
