The so-called Camp Fire continues to burn in northern California's Butte county as of Wednesday afternoon (local time), November 14. The fire has killed at least 48 people and 103 others are still missing. Nearly 9000 buildings, including 7600 homes, have been destroyed in the blaze. Police also arrested six people in connection to looting in the area, including two men who were arrested in possession of drugs and firearms. Evacuation notices and road closures remain in effect for the area, which ranges from southeast Chico along CA-32 to Powellton toward Nelsons Crossing and south to Lake Oroville. A full map of evacuation zones can be found here.

As of 07:00 on Wednesday, the Camp Fire had burned 55,000 hectares (135,000 acres) and is 35 percent contained. With more favorable weather conditions, firefighters were able to hold containment lines. Full containment is estimated to be completed by November 30.

The Camp Fire is the deadliest and most destructive fire in California history. Wildfires are common in California from May through November.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor developments to the situation, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities (e.g. evacuation notices, road closures), and refrain from strenuous outdoor activity.
